Barite Cluster
from Magnet Cove, Hot Spring County, Arkansas, USA
ex Goodrick/Delinde
An amazing and rare cluster of Barite in matrix featuring wonderful color aesthetics. The formation is unique as well and different from all of the other Barite clusters we have seen come from this region. The exact locale is not listed, but historically speaking, well formed crystallized Barite was RARE from this area, and it was most commonly unearthed by the National Lead company and Magnet Cove Barium company in masses with no visible crystallization. This specific piece is even more unique as it hosts the wonderful color aesthetics surrounding the barite crystals embedded in host matrix. Very interesting piece of Arkansas mineral history. From the collection of Jim Goodrick and later, Henry Delinde. Mined many decades ago. This Barite piece comes with this original canister from Jim as well as a new detailed information card. Jim is another mining legend, and the Smithsonian has a mineral specimen of both Jim and Henry's in their collection (georgia rutile and an arkansas wavellite). r.i.p. jim and henry.
Size: Canister size is approx 5 x 3 x 3 cm
Barite is approx 3.5 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm
weight of the barite cluster is approx 5.1 grams
