Rare Turquoise "floater" from Porter Mountain in Polk County, Arkansas!
Rare and Unique Central Southern US locale for turquoise. It is an extremely unique specimen piece considering its locale of origin. This particular specimen is from the collection of explorer/mineralogist Henry Delinde. A part of his "mineral buffet". Henry was a prolific miner to say the least...he discovered many great treasures in the Arkansas wilderness, and he even discovered a mineral species brand new to science, which they named after him (Delindeite).
This particular Turquoise specimen is large w/ great vibrant sky-blue color and is harder than most of the Turquoise we have seen come out of this locale. Always recommended to stabilize Arkansas turquoise if you are seeking to turn it into jewelry, but as a specimen piece it is historic and stands on its own. It is even better in person...rare material here. The color is fantastic!
