Solution Quartz + Cookeite in Rectorite, old stock, Jeffrey Quarry, Arkansas, UV reactive.
1970s Old stock Solution Quartz Crystals and micro-Cookeite suspended in Rectorite aka "mountain leather". From the old (and long closed) Jeffrey Quarry located in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Rectorite is a strange clay mineral, and is the host material that the solution quartz forms in....it is slightly malleable. Lots of small and micro sized solution quartz crystals and micro sized cookeite etc can be seen under a loupe. It is also UV Reactive under longwave 365nm uv light. Super interesting specimen.
It comes mounted with ticky tacky on a naturally uv-reactive pine knot wood base that also illuminates nicely when light shines through it. The wood itself is naturally infused with the resin of the tree it came from, so it smells wonderful too, like the Arkansas forests from where it was unearthed.
Arkansas magic, from the Ouachita Mountain Range.
Specimen Size Approx. 2.9 x 2.5 x 1.3 cm
