Polk County, Arkansas, USA.

This piece was mined in the 1970s in the Caney Creek Wilderness in Polk County, Arkansas, USA by a team of scientists and collectors including Al Kidwell, Meredith York, Henry Delinde, and others. This area of the Ouachita Forest is known for its extensive Manganese explorations that occurred in the 20th Century. Many world class Iron Phosphate species were found in these same districts.
