Unique old stock example of a naturally magnetic lodestone magnetite. It is magnetic, but also acts as a natural magnet, and you can see in the photos how it can hold onto lighter pieces of metal, like a staple or small nail. Interestingly the magnetic field seems to be focused to one side of the specimen. From a very famous geological region. The central portion of the Magnet Cove Igneous Complex hosts some amazing and rare minerals within its various geological formations. Very interesting specimen. The steel nail is included so that it can be displayed showing its natural magnet qualities.
