  • Wavellite - Christy Pit, Magnet Cove, Hot Spring County Arkansas, ex Howard,RARE

Wavellite - Christy Pit, Magnet Cove, Hot Spring County Arkansas, ex Mike Howard.

RARE Locale for Wavellite!

from the old Christy Vanadium Mine, Magnet Cove, Hot Spring County, Arkansas, USA.

A phenomenal collectors specimen and rarely seen Wavellite specimen from a locale in the contact zone of the Magnet Cove Igneous Complex. This is a specimen dug and mounted for display by ex state geologist, Mike Howard. Most of the Arkansas Wavellite out there is either from the county pit in Montgomery County or the old Delinde claim/Dug Hill in Garland County. This is a unique white hued micro Wavellite from a long-closed locale known for vanadium and titanium bearing mineral production (closed and reclaimed for many decades now). Wavellite from the Christy Pit is rarely seen on the market. It is formed on highly altered quartz, and shows excellent crystallization under loupe/microscope. Comes mounted in its original perky box w/ original tags. (see video and photos for closeup views).

The specimen is Approx. 1.3 x 1.3 x 1 cm

The case is approx. 3.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm

  • Unique Wavellite w/ "Near-Turquoise"- Old Stock, Garland County, Arkansas

Unique Wavellite w/ "Near-Turquoise"- Old Stock.

from Location "R"

Garland County, Arkansas

ex Henry Delinde

Old stock Wavellite w/ vibrant blue "near-Turquoise" . Is it Rashleighite? Turquoise? Planerite? only further analysis would tell....but it is interesting that it was labeled this way. Location "R" is a mystery as well. Perhaps it is from Henry Delindes old claim in Garland County, or a different location entirely. A mystery. Nice aesthetics and Excellent crystallization, all on a matrix of chert.

This is from Henry Delindes collection, and comes displayed in the original perky box. Very cool thumbnail specimen. See photographs for details.

Specimen size Approx. 2 x 1.5 x 0.7 cm
