Very unique
Calcio Carbonatite w/ Perovskite, Kimzeyite and Schorlomite Garnet, as well as Fluorapatite and other unknown micro minerals.
From Magnet Cove, Arkansas, USA
Hot Spring County - likely Cove Creek where the main Calcio Carbonatite formation is in the central portion of the Magnet Cove Igneous Complex.
This unique specimen of calcio carbonatite hosts a nice variety of various Garnet species, as well as some micro Perovskites and fluorapatite. The biggest species on the main calcio carbonatite specimen are schorlomite garnets that have fluorapatite attached to them. The smaller minerals scattered across the piece include kimzeyite garnets, perovskite, and more. Very cool to explore with a microscope. The interior of the calcio carbonatite likely hosts even more micro minerals, and the specimen also likely contains Rare Earth Elements within many of the species present. Very cool old specimen from a very famous geological region of Arkansas, USA.
Specimen size: Approx. 4 x 4 x 2.2 cm
The largest species on the piece is a garnet that is approx 0.3 cm
