A+ Green Wavellite - Fantastic Old Stock - Mauldin Mountain, Arkansas, USA
Old stock Wavellite, from Mauldin Mountain, Montgomery county, Arkansas, USA.
(Montgomery County quarry / Mauldin Mountain quarry)
A super beautiful A+ specimen of green wavellite, showcasing a nice hue of green wavellite with excellent crystallization and overall nice aesthetics. The crystallization doesn't get much better than this for Wavellite. The color is fantastic as well. The specimen also features pseudomorphs of SiO2 after Wavellite. These are thought by many to be Crandallite but that is a misnomer within the mineral community. We have had these tested and so has John Betts. SEM tests all come back as SiO2, and John Betts XRD on the material came back more specifically as Opal-CT and Quartz var. Chalcedony. Opal CT is a silica polymorph.
From our personal collection of fine Wavellite from Arkansas.
Specimen size: Approx. 6.5 x 5.5 x 3 cm
