Planerite
-Mauldin Mountain
-Montgomery County Quarry
-Arkansas, USA
Here is a beautiful example of a Planerite "floater" specimen, with crystallization occurring on almost every side of the piece, with only a thin host matrix of chert "sandwiched" in the middle. A very unique example of this mineral that is quite similar to turquoise....some planerite from Arkansas has even been tested and shown to have some trace amounts of Copper present (likely contributing to the more blue, blue/green hued varieties of Planerite). Planerite can range in hues from white to blue. The chemistry of Planerite specimens seems to vary from seam to seam, and can vary quite a bit, even from just one single locale.
